Art and Design & Technology

At Holy Spirit we value and nurture the creativity of our children.

We strive to inspire and engage our children through the delivery of a quality and enriching Art and Design Curriculum, enabling children to develop their artistic skills and gain confidence and enjoyment in the arts.

In Key Stages 1 and 2 the children:

• Develop their knowledge and skills in the arts.
• Learn about great artists, designers and crafts people.
• Analyse and evaluate their work and the work of others.
• Learn about how art impacts on the environment.
• Develop a wide range of art and design techniques including using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.
• Create artistic work in a variety of media including paint, clay, collage, natural materials, textiles, print and sculpture.           

Our Art curriculum provides the children with a sense of pride and achievement. Each child is given an artist’s sketchbook that they fill with beautiful art work throughout their years at Holy spirit, something they cherish and are very proud of.  

All our children are given the opportunity to be entered for an Arts bronze Award, awarded by London’s Trinity College, which recognises the creative achievements of young people.

We celebrate our children’s work by proudly displaying their art around the school. We also hold an end of year Art exhibition. We invite parents and the wider community to come and see the amazing work that the children have created.
