Special Educational Needs
Holy Spirit School provides an inclusive, nurturing and stimulating environment which enables every child to reach their full potential.
The social and academic progress of all children at Holy Spirit is paramount and where difficulties are identified, appropriate support is provided. If a child continues to have difficulty after intervention, or has a high level of difficulty, they may be considered to have Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) and are placed on the SEND register. This decision is made in partnership with parents and carers.
At Holy Spirit we provide support for children across the 4 areas of need as laid out in the SEN Code of Practice 2014:
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties
- Sensory and or physical needs
SEND Information Report
Our SEND Information Report offers information for parents and carers, in a single place, explaining the services available from a range of local agencies - including their statutory entitlements.

Mental Health and Well-being
At Holy Spirit School we are aware of the need to support our children’s mental well-being.
To support us in this goal we have weekly support from the Mental Health Support Team, this a part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The Mental Health Support Team referrals are generated by school in partnership with parents/carers and can provide support to children who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. More complex difficulties will be supported through the external CAMHS therapeutic route.
Holy Spirit Mental Health and Well-being Policy
If you have concerns about your child’s mental well-being speak to Mrs Bale our Mental Health Lead.

Wirral Local Offer
The Children and Families Bill requires Wirral to publish, and keep under review, information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities aged 0-25.
This is called the Local Offer and its aims are:
- To improve choice and transparency for young people and their families
- To provide an important resource for professionals in understanding the range of services and provision in a local area
- To inform the joint commissioning process for children and young people with SEND by setting out in a single place what is available locally
For any further enquiries or information, please contact our SENCO Mrs Bale via the school office.
