Faith Life

Faith Life at Holy Spirit Catholic and Church of England Primary School is at the heart of everything we do in school. Every decision made is with our Christian values at the epicentre, guided by God.

We are a joint church primary school serving the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St Chad’s Church of England. We are very proud to serve two dioceses, Shrewsbury and Chester, and we have very strong relationships and links with both.

Faith life is abundant in our school and we start each day with whole school collective worship, coming together to begin the day with prayer and worship. Children take an active part in our prayer, both whole school and in their classrooms and thoroughly enjoy being part of this.

We have many celebrations throughout the liturgical year, such as Harvest Festival, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. We always do something special to mark these significant times in the churches year and ensure our families and community are invited.

We are blessed to have two dedicated clergy, Father Paschal and Reverend Jonny Frost, who contribute to the spiritual faith journey of our school on a regular basis, providing knowledge, wisdom and spiritual direction to children, staff, governors and the community. We are very fortunate to be able to celebrate mass and Eucharistic Services on alternate weeks, so the children have the opportunity to experience and practise their faith regularly.

We follow two schemes of work for our Religious Education to ensure we are observing the traditions from both the Catholic and Anglican Churches. They are ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life,’ and Chester Diocesan Scheme of Work.

We work closely with local Catholic and Anglican Schools, sharing good practice and providing opportunities for our children to work together and worship together. We have taken part in weekend retreats with CPAS (a Church of England Charity),  Big Sing events with both dioceses, Faith Art Days and Worship Days with other Wirral schools.

Our children are faith filled and know they can make the world a happier and better place with the help of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
